Equine Omega Complete® For The Senior Horse

Learn how Equine Omega Complete can prevent and protect against common ailments as your horse ages.

Equine Omega Complete® For The Senior Horse

Aging is a normal part of life, and when horses reach their early teens, they are considered seniors.

aAt this age, horse owners tend to look at additional or alternative ways to maintain their optimal health by reducing the effects of age-related ailments and promoting their overall health and well-being.

The most common health issues that develop in older horses are joint problems such as stiffness or inflammation, respiratory issues, digestive issues, muscle loss, and fatigue.

Equine Omega Complete® is an all-in-one supplement that was developed to target these areas.

Engineered to support healthy cell function and provide the healthiest fat possible, EOC® allows nutrients and waste to enter and leave the cells easily. This helps the cells of the horse function at an optimum level, which presents as improved joint mobility, gut health, respiratory health, muscle health, and more.

Joint Health

Just like humans, a horse’s joints and bones weaken as they age, resulting in common problems such as arthritis, inflammation, degenerative joint disease, and the build-up of lactic acid leading to stiffness. Pain, inflammation, and lameness usually accompany joint issues in horses, which require vet care, rest, and a reduction of or absence from work.

Reducing inflammation and protecting the cartilage in the joints of athletic and obese horses is key to preventing chronic laminitis. Including omega-3 fatty acids in a horse’s diet has proven beneficial to joint health by reducing the inflammation of joints and protecting the cartilage in horses that are susceptible to arthritis and joint pain.

Supporting joints and ligaments with a supplement like Equine Omega Complete® eliminates these issues before they become more serious, while omega-3 fatty acids lead to lower levels of inflammation throughout the horse.

Respiratory Health

Research has shown that an older horse is at a higher risk of developing respiratory conditions; that risk increases if they are or were a performance horse.

While consistent turnout significantly improves respiratory issues, not all horses can spend lots of time outside. In this case, they require a supplement to support their respiratory health. The omega-3 fatty acids found in EOC® support lung function, particularly in horses that suffer from exercise-induced pulmonary hemorrhage, while improving the health of the respiratory system in all horses who receive this supplement.

Additionally, the inclusion of vitamin E – an essential vitamin for horses that they cannot create on their own – lessens the effects of respiratory conditions such as heaves and allergies while providing support to their overall health and well-being.

Including omega-3 fatty acids, Docosahexaenoic Acid (DHA) and Eicosapentaenoic Acid (EPA) have proven successful for horses struggling with asthma and breathing issues. Reducing inflammation in the lungs and promoting healthy cellular levels provides horses with the airway support they need. All three of these ingredients are found in Equine Omega Complete®.

Digestive Health

Including omega-6 fatty acids in a horses’ diet have been shown to reduce acid secretion and increase the output of protective prostaglandins, which is particularly beneficial in horses with ulcers.

A horse’s gastrointestinal tract plays an important role in its overall health, and it is evident that as a horse ages, its digestive system tends to be less efficient at processing and absorbing nutrients for the body. In particular, they are at a higher risk of colic and ulcers, which pose long-term problems or lead to death.

Including omega-3 fatty acids in an older horse’s diet will stimulate digestion and allow the body to process and absorb nutrients more effectively and efficiently.

Muscle Health

A horse’s muscle mass is important regardless of their activity level and age, and proper muscle management in older horses ensures better protection from injury and faster recovery. Maintaining good muscle mass leads to strong blood flow, which in turn leads to improved stamina and the prevention of lactic acid accumulation.
